TĀTAI HONO

Kainga Atawhai place Ngāpuhi tamariki at the heart of everything we do to ensure they are safe, secure, healthy and connected to whakapapa.

Our team of Ngāpuhi Kaiārahi use their diverse talents and skills to journey alongside taitamariki to support their growth and development through the ups and downs of transitioning to young adults.

SUPPORTING TAITAMARIKI

We offer youth-focused activities and community events that provide opportunities for engagement and growth and encourage a strong sense of identity.

Through a shared care approach, we support Ngāpuhi tamariki in achieving their personal goals and help foster healthy connections with their whānau to achieve lasting stability.

oranga whānau

Our Oranga Whānau team has extensive knowledge and connections throughout Ngāpuhi to help connect and support whānau to meet their needs.

We aim to facilitate support for whānau we work with including navigating hardship, holistic healing, getting through the courts, advocacy, whānau hui and safety planning.

We support whānau who are impacted by harm with interventions including crisis support, access to holistic healing and services, pre-court information and advocacy, organising whānau hui and safety planning.

We work alongside whānau to provide the tools and resources needed to achieve sustainable long-term change.

Te Tira Taitamariki (Youth work & Development)

At Ngāpuhi Iwi Social Services, our mentoring service for taitamariki aged 11-17 is dedicated to celebrating our Ngāpuhi whakapapa to guide our youth.

Our diverse team of Ngāpuhi Kaiārahi use their diverse talents and skills to guide taitamariki through cultural journeys that include visiting historical sites, learning about our tūpuna, and connecting with our moana and ngāhere traditions.

These activities, combined with individual goal setting, enrich taitamariki with life skills, survival techniques, and contribute to hapū and iwi well-being.

We also offer youth focused community events that provide opportunities for growth, encouraging a strong sense of being Ngāpuhi.

Whakapapa

As a team we believe in the strength and healing potential of whakapapa.

Strengthening our understanding of and connection to whakapapa can help mokopuna and whānau grow their resilience and identity as Ngāpuhi.

We collaborate with whānau to connect with their whakapapa.

We facilitate decision-making hui to advocate for tamariki and whānau's needs, enabling wellbeing and growth.

We advocate for Ngāpuhi mokopuna and their whānau navigating the system, ensuring their voices and needs are met.
